Wymondham travelled down to Newmarket for a much anticipated clash with the Cambridgeshire side. The game got off to a competitive start with Wymondham exerting some early pressure. This was quickly countered by Diss who applied pressure of their own. This eventually gave way to a controversial Newmarket try, the referee judging the ball was touched down over the try line.

Wymondham were able to work their way back into the game but not able to benefit from this, leaving the half time score- 5-0.

In the second half Wymondham began to play the game in Newmarket’s half although a brief period of Newmarket pressure led to their second try. Wymondham responded with some further pressure which resulted in a fine try by Lee.

Not to be outdone, Newmarket scored a further try, from a lost scrum, despite some fine tackling from some, including Charlie Rowe. Wymondham applied some late pressure but despite this, and a fine run by Christian, the score remained at 17-5.
