Well despite a cold grey wet day and embarrassingly only having 8 players we were made very welcome by Ipswich. It was made more embarrassing by the fact that they had had a special training session to prepare for us, they fancied their chances after what they saw as a very even game last time.

We played on there 1st team pitch outside the club house and its a very nice surface, good for running rugby, the late kick off allowed a reasonable crowd to watch and they had some good support.

Thankyou to the 8 who turned up who played with great effort but having 5 extras from Ipswich makes it disjointed straight away. The ‘team’ did well to keep them to four tries in the first half and three in the second and the prop who played for us, normally a 2nd row, was the one who scored. I did think we were due a 2nd try towards the end but were held out by some valiant Ipswich defending.

Luke propped, Will hooked, Ewan and Jake 2nd row, Matt B played 6, 8 & 9, Henry played 9 except when he went off in the middle of the game for a snack and a rest, Charlie 10, Haydn – wing, centre and did I see you at fullback as well.

Excellent refereeing allowed the game to flow superbly (thankyou Rod) and it was a very good natured game, we will look to see if there is a chance of another fixture later in the season as it would be good to take a full team there.
