Well I have to say I wasn’t looking forward to the trip to Colchester, especially as once again we had a few players opt out.
However it was a beautiful day, a great welcome from some very nice coaches, a lovely pitch and 14 players turned up.
All the players tried their hardest but unfortunately we didn’t work as a team and made some very basic mistakes. The first half was. to be frank, embarrasing, this isn’t the way Wymondham play.
Colchester are drilled and coached very well, they have some excellent players, many were missing on other duties but they still had their number 8 who plays at England level.
The second half was much better, more spirited, more organised. We scored a beautiful try, penalty, Charlies cross kick, Robbie caught went forward, ball recycled and a very good pass from Matt to Chris who ran it in.
I understand the overall result was 55-12 to Colchester.
