First time I had been to Newmarket which may explain why I and several others got lost on the way there so we didn’t have the usual preparation time before the game.
Maybe it was this, or one of the boys turning 16, or missing a few players but although we started fantastically and pinned them down in their 22 for the first 10 minutes we came away without score because we made wrong decisions.
In a way the game continued in the same manner, a good interception led to a run in from the half way line, good running, ducking and diving led to another try and a crash ball from one of the forwards made all 3 all of which were converted.
Newmarket scored a well deserved try towards the end.
