A beautiful Indian summer day greeted the teams as they ran out onto the pitch . Colchester didn't seem affected by the journey up and made a very strong start, putting pressure on Wymondham from the first whistle. They scored 2 early tries, one from a good kick and kindly bounce and another from a good solo effort, leaving Wymondham 12-0 down after only a few minutes. Unfortunately Greg picked up an injury and could play no further part in the game. Wymondham tackling was mixed, full-back Jack putting in some strong early hits, unfortunately not matched by everyone.
Wymondham then woke up and started to exert some pressure of their own. This was rewarded before half time by a great try by James White, abely converted by Luke. This took Wymondham to within 5 points of Colchester at half time at 12-7.
The beginning of the second half was a very even affair with both teams applying pressure but unable to break through. The Colchester midfield continued to run well and were just kept out by some last ditch defence by Wymondham. Particularly impressive in the loose was Matt Miners, winning much ball and making good ground. Wymondham continued to put themselves under pressure and failed to clear their lines effectively. Later in the half, Colchester began to break through the Wymondham defence and due some poor tackling ran in two late tries to make the final score- 24-7.
MPV was Charlie Rowe.

On a HOT Sunday morning the Wymondham Under 14’s RED Trojans team faced a strong Colchester 'B' team for there 1st game of the session. With a few forced changes for the starting line up due to late call offs from some of the players from the black team, We still looked a strong team who would give it there all to play this hard game.
From the kick off it was end to end stuff with hard tackles coming from both teams as no one wanted to lose it was looking like a good game to watch for the spectators. From a turn over at a ruck and some strong running form Alex Tonnison, Lawrie Mullane and Toby Setters Wymondham were give a penalty on The Colchester 5 meter line and after already coming close to scoring 3 time Wymondham knew what they needed to do. From the tap Toby Craven took the ball at full speed and crashed through the defence and scored the first try of the game. Charlie Page Brown converted. Straight from the restart Wymondham were put under pressure from the Colchester attacks and found themselves on there own 5 meter line. After some strong tackling Lawrie had to leave the pitch with a neck injury which wasn’t to bad but because it was a neck injury forwards coach Pat took him off to make sure he would not make it worse. Because of the late call off we had no front row replacements and had to go uncontested in thescrum and we then lost Elliot Wang who was needed to replace Greg in the Black team. This reshuffling caused some confusion in our so far solid defence and aloud Colchester to score under the post. Conversion added. Not wanting to go in to the break level Wymondham fought back and after putting in some good running from Alex who put in a strong performance at Fullback Myles White scored out wide. Conversion missed.
Half time Wymondham lead 12-7
With not much having to be said to the team at half time Wymondham seemed to relax a bit to much and gave a penalty away just outside there 22. Colchester quickly attacked and scored their second try and narrowly missed the conversion to draw level again. Quickly getting the team together and giving them a quick talking to they headed back for the restart knowing they only have 5 minutes left to score. After more end to end play Wymondham got back in to the Colchester 22 and like a raging bull Toby Setters crashed over the line to score and seal a hard fought win.
Well done to all the new comers to the squad you all played well and will give the coaches a headache when it comes to the team selection on Wednesday nights.
Try’s from Toby Craven, Myles White and Toby Setters
Conversion from Charlie Page Brown.
