This award scheme was instituted in April 2010 and is to be presented to a small, select, group of members who have given outstanding service to the club over an extended period of time.
Any member may nominate a fellow member who they consider has fulfilled the necessary criteria by their long-term contribution in any or all of the coaching, administrative or funding areas. If you wish to make a nomination, please do so, in writing, with your justification, to Martin Crook or Shay Good at the Club or by e-mail.
Nominations will be considered by a panel consisting of Martin Crook, President, long-serving official and ex-player Shay Good, and the Club Secretary.
Successful nominees will be presented with a unique enamelled lapel badge depicting the Club’s emblem of a red lion rampant and a numbered certificate. In addition, an award holder's lunch will be held before a first team game every year and an honours board will be created and displayed in the clubhouse with the names of recipients and the date of their award.
It was the unanimous wish of the Club Management Committee that Award number 001 should be presented to Bob Sutton in recognition of his truly exceptional service to Wymondham Rugby Club over several decades.
This award was presented at the 2010 Player’s Dinner by Scott Quinnell.
The first Red Lion Award lunch is to be held on Saturday 18th September 2010 when further awards will be made.
