President's message
I would like to add my thanks to John Mackay's praise of the newsletter which Lesley Penniket has produced for us. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank both John and Martin Crook for their fantastic work in identifying and pursuing new pitches for the club.
We have a full house for our pre-Christmas lunch on 17 December 2011 'buoyed' up by a large presence from the ladies team. We will be presenting awards to the winners of the Williams Lea Christmas Card competition as well as welcoming our guests from Newmarket.
Sponsorship is a key income for all rugby clubs these days. As a result of the successful contacts that Clydesdale Bank (one of our sponsors) have made via their relationship with the club, they have invited Mike Catt, English Rugby World Cup winner, to take a training session and seminar at the club in April next year - watch this space for more details.
As John says, if you would like to come to the Sponsors' Lunch on 14 January 2012 prior to the 1st XV match against Holt, please let Ben or me know, don't wait to be invited!
Some members will have noticed that we have not yet held the Financial AGM, so for the three people who attended last year, we have not forgotten.
As you know we are pressing on with plans to incorporate the club into a limited company in accordance with RFU guidance. This is proving a long process but with the help of Leathes Prior solicitors we are nearly there. We hope to hold both an EGM for incorporation together with the Financial AGM early in the New Year and I am looking for a good turnout.
We are putting together a social committee at present and I have a number of excellent volunteers. Again, if anyone else would like to help, please let me or another club official know.
