02 Colts Update

Colts Update

This is a warning to parents and coaches of boys who are playing at U16 and younger!

There is a transformation that begins during the 16th summer of these boys’ lives that returns them to the club a changed creature. This change then continues and, at present, I am unable to say what will happen at the end.  I think girls may have something to do with it and beer but I can't be certain - research continues.  I may have more news towards the end of the season!

On the rugby front...the Colts (U19s and U18s) have had a successful half season with a number of them turning out regularly for 1sts, 2nds and 3rds.  Lessons learned in these games have served them well, as they look forward to entertaining Tring in the New Year in the 3rd Round of the National Plate CompetitionSadly they lost during the last play of the game against Rochford in the Cup Competition in a fantastic game of rugby

While still a relatively young side, the Colts begin their EC Cup campaign on 18 December against Sudbury at home and have high hopes of success.   Please come along and give them your support!

Junior Colts (Under 17s) have also had an excellent half season and recently beat a strong Colchester side by 25-15 to progress to the semi-finals of the EC Cupa win which also gains them entry into the National U17s competition Highlights have also been the despatching of their local rivals Diss 28-0 (erasing the memory of three successive Norfolk cup final defeats - almost) along with the success of some of the boys in playing for the senior Colts’ sides.

So, plenty to play for, as we approach 2012!

Success for both the Colts and Junior Colts is down to a lot of hard work, both on and off the field and I'd just like to say thank you to Sally and Diane for all their work in keeping us legal and to Loadesy and Andy Mac for their coaching efforts.

If you get an opportunity, please come and take a look at these Colts teams - there are some very good young players who are playing some very good (and quick) rugby!
